Last year, I received an unexpected call from my business mentor and fellow ADHD pro, Rodger Werkhoven, the ECD at Open IO Amsterdam. He presented me with an opportunity to participate in Art Basel Miami. I had a tight 12-hour window to submit my work, prepare, and hope for selection. Fortunately, everything fell into place.
The piece I created is quite abstract—a super slow-motion zoom into a hotel hallway. The combination of my music and the gradual zoom is designed to evoke "Cleithrophobia," the fear of being trapped and unable to move forward.
Rodger assisted me in making the film using his personal AI system, while I focused on the music. I primarily used door sounds as a foundation, layering them with synths and cinematic drums. I also transformed the resonance of the door screeches into a sampler synth, which I then used to create eerie, dream-like tonal harmonies.
I'm excited about my upcoming entry at Art Basel Tokyo 2025.
